A cocktail of sport, friendship and (2019)

Hiphop Tamizha Aadhi used the model of his hit film Meesaya Murukku with backdrop hockey and Indian sport politics in Natpe Thunai. In short, the film talks about sports, friendship and politics and is interested in hockey episodes and catchy songs!

Prabhakaran (Hiphop Tamizha) is a carefree young man whose only ambition is to settle in France and verify his nationality. in his uncle's house in Karaikal. Although Aadhi hates Karaikal, he falls in love with Deepa (Anagha), a local hockey player. While helping Deepa secure a position on her team, Prabhakaran also reveals her identity! He is the captain of India's junior hockey team and an international player who faces a ban on playing. When the selection committee puts an end to clandestine underground politics, his friend is suspended for three years and our man now hates gambling.

Meanwhile, Pondicherry Sports Minister Harichandran (Karu Palaniappan ), draws the grbad plan given as a gift by the proud city player, Arangavalan. Now, Prabhakaran should help the local hockey coach (Harish Uttaman) and his players by leading the team as a new captain! If Prabha leads the team to victory, she will not be ranked in the underperforming category and no one will be able to take the hockey field and the floor away from them!

Almost 90% of the first half is spent at leisure with useless scenes and uninteresting romantic scenes, a comedy and three songs! Only in the intermission, the movie chooses after the hero has picked up his hockey stick. But after the intermission, the film is filled with many scenes, including a flashback where we get to know the exploits and defeats of the hero as simple voiceovers. Natpe Thunai only gained ground in the climax hockey game, which is the culmination point.

Karu. Palaniappan as an intriguing politician and his troubling dialogue are the greatest things to remember from Natpe Thunai . Harish Uttaman is good while the hero Aadhi does not seem convincing as a sportsman. He could have worked a bit to get at least his correct body language in the match scenes. He uses the same set of expressions and mannerisms of Meesaya Murukku. The new Anagha girl is promising and not only does she look good, but she performed well.

Technically, Adhi's songs and score bottom up the film in crucial proportions. Cinematography should be superb in such a colorful sports show, but here, the visuals are dull. The running time should also have been reduced by at least twenty minutes, unnecessary scenes from the first half could have been easily interrupted.

Overall, Natpe Thunai is well-intentioned and constitutes an attractive watch. But it's never above that to become a film that could really make a difference. What catches your attention at the end are the striking climax hockey match scenes that are filmed so effectively that you literally get carried to the center of the action. But the film does not leave a lasting impression, because it says nothing you have not heard yet.
