Romeo Akbar Walter is a scenario-based film with a decent and captivating narrative. Robbie Grewal, who wrote the film, seems to have done some huge research. His efforts are visible in the details. The creators of the film, Swapnil Bhalerao and Madhur Madhavan did an admirable job. Congratulations to the team for spotting places that give a vintage impression. John Abraham, Sikander Kher and Jackie Shroff stand out for their performances. The character of Mouni Roy is a surprise but she has little time on the screen to record a significant impact. The sound service has also done a good job. We do not want to give spoilers but the highlight is pretty good.
What's wrong …
The first half of the movie is rather slow. RAW could have done it with a tighter edition. In addition, the camera takes too many close-ups of the actors, which is repetitive after a point. Emotional scenes do not create the necessary impact, with the exception of the one on the climax.
Verdict
Romeo Akbar Walter is a film shot with great attention to detail. This is not melodramatic or remote. If you like the kind of spying, you will not be disappointed. Do not expect an action to which you are accustomed since the Hollywood spy movies. This one is more subtle and real.
