Mohanlal's latest star, Lucifer, has raised the bar on wickets collection at the Malayalam film industry. The filmmakers announced Monday that the film has so far garnered a crore of 100 rupees in its ticket sales worldwide.
Lucifer is Mohanlal's second film to join the coveted club of Rs 100 crore. In 2016, his film Pulimurugan became the first film in Malayalam to collect 100 crore. Kayamkulam Kochunni, a drama from the Nivin Pauly period, achieved this feat 50 days after its release.
Lucifer from Mohanlal set a new benchmark for box office success in Mollywood by crossing the coveted mark in 10 days. It seems that the film is doing well in various international markets, apart from markets that traditionally favored Malayalam cinema. "#Lucifer has become a pioneer of #Malayalam movies internationally … A little earlier, #Malayalam movies would record big numbers in some markets [UAE-GCC in particular] but #Lucifer does great things everywhere, while movies in d & # "Other languages are very competitive …", writes Taran Adarsh, a film industry badyst, on his Twitter account.
"#Lucifer's super success on the international stage should open the eyes of the # Malayalam movie industry … And encourage #Malayalam movie producers to explore new traditional markets, of course. @comScore (sic), "he added.
