Game of Thrones ends after nearly a decade of filming. The show was adapted from a series of novels by George R. R. Martin, entitled A Song of Ice and Fire . The series has outpaced the books scenario a long time ago and, as we enter the final season, the book series remains at two pounds of completion. In a recent interview with the Hollywood Reporter, Martin revealed that he thought the series could use a little more time.
Speaking of the end of the series, George said:
"I do not think it should be the last season. But we are there. It seems to me that we started last week. Is it longer than that? Time has pbaded in a blur. But it's exciting. I know it's an end, but it's not an end for me. I am still writing the books. We have seen five more shows in development. I think I'm going to hang around Westeros while everyone is gone. (Laughs.) "
He also said how pleased he was with the progress of the previous show that is being developed. He was then asked how to develop characters like Daenerys and Jon:
"I do it all the time. If you read my book in November, Fire and Blood …, I invented a ton of new characters. I would have liked to be 30 years old instead of 70 years old. I would have more time to write a lot more books on all these characters. But that's what it is! It was a story book format, so I just told the stories in the form of summary narratives.
" With the main characters, I had the beats of what was planned since 1994 or 1995. Sometimes, for minor characters, you are writing a scene about a character with a point of view and then you need someone to play at. You add a new character. Sometimes this character animates in a way that I had not planned. But here he is, in this scene, and he is moving in a new direction. This is the gardener's overall approach. The main characters, however, I know the main features. Not with some of the people who broke up afterwards. The remaining books of the series:
"Yes, I was isolated. My loyal staff – I've got a few with me – chained me to the typewriter. They make me eat healthy food. (Laughs) It's horrible!
