All members of the Stark family are put to the sword, including Septa Mordane. Syrio manages to save Arya, but is shot by Ser Meryn Trant. Arya manages to retrieve a needle from a room, kills a stable boy and runs away from the red donjon
Sansa is taken away by the dog. Cersei made him write a letter to Robb asking him to come to King's Landing and bend his knee in front of Joffrey. When Sansa's message reaches Robb, he decides to head south with all of Stark's bannermen.
Robb has a council with his bannermen and takes leave of Bran while he leaves for the south. Rickon comes to Bran, but when Bran tries to rebadure him that Robb will free his father and come back soon, Rickon says, " No, he will not want ".
Bran meets Osha in the divine wood through the spillway tree. She tells him that Robb is walking in the wrong direction and that all the swords should be facing north, not south.
Catelyn, to whom no Lysister aide has been aided by the Lannisters, meets Robb's host during the march. She tells him that it's a battle that the Starks can not afford to lose.
Varys takes Ned to the dungeons and presents him with the latest developments. Ned asks him who he really serves and Varys answers: " The Kingdom ".
Sansa is present in court as new appointments are announced: Jonos Slynt is named Lord of Harrenhall; Tywin Lannister is named Hand of the King; Jaime is named Lord Commander of the Kingsguard. Ser Barristan Selmy is relieved of his responsibilities and leaves the throne room indignantly
Sansa asks Joffrey to be lenient with his father. Joffrey grants his request, provided that Ned confesses and accepts that the king is true.
At Castle Black, the bodies of two guards are brought (Ghost found them). From Benjen and the rest of the party, there is still no sign. Commander Mormont requests that the corpses be examined by Maester Aemon prior to their cremation.
Meanwhile, events taking place at King's Landing are communicated via Crow and the commander informs Jon of what happened. Jon worries about Sansa and Arya, but the commander urges him to do nothing stupid.
The Alliser Thorne makes fun of Jon so that he is the son of a "traitor"; Jon the attack, for which the Mormont commander cantoned him. The ghost wakes up in the middle of the night and is disturbed. He drives Jon to the Commander's quarters, where one of the deceased men has been revived as a warrior. Jon is unable to kill the warrior at the beginning with his sword, but eventually puts it on fire and saves the commander.
At Castle Black, the bodies of the dead rangers are burned and Sam tells them the legend of the White Walkers. He says they've been sleeping under the ice for thousands of years and that when they wake up, everyone can hope, that is, the wall is high enough.
The Dothraki set fire to the villages of the lamb people (the Lhazareen) and take them as slaves, to raise money for their war campaign in Westeros. Dany rescues a healer, Mirri Maz Duur, from rape. She orders that no women be hurt by the Dothraki
An unhappy warrior – Mago – complains to Khal Drogo. When Drogo supports Daenerys, Mago challenges him. Drogo kills Mago and snatches out his tongue. However, he suffers a cut during the fight and Mirri Maz Duur says she's going to clean up and bandage her wound.
En route to the south, Tyrion and Bronn are attacked by hill clans and the first convinces them with the promise of giving if they reach his family safely.
Tyrion, Bronn and the clans of the hills reach the Lannister camps in the River Lands. There, Tyrion receives news of everything that has happened and Tywin Lannister asks the hill clans to join them in combat with rewards appropriate for all. The clans are in agreement, provided that Tyrion fights with them (as a guarantee for their payment). ] – "What is said to the Lord of Death?" Arya [in reply] – "Not today."
