How will the royal title of Kate Middleton change when Prince William becomes King?

Prince William may be second in the throne, but he is always doing his best to prepare for this role. And next to him when he takes the throne, there will be his wife, Kate Middleton, who is currently known as the Duchess of Susbad. But what will happen to Kate's royal title when her husband becomes king?

William and Kate will probably be married for decades when Will becomes king

Will and Kate met for the first time in 2001, then married 10 years later in 2011. Since 2011, they have both worked in royalty, who are constantly learning the tricks of the monarchy – while raising a family. Since Will is second in the throne, he probably still has a long time to become king (longevity seems to reign in the royal family). But he is still getting ready and taking his royal role seriously. Will is very polite and understands the importance of his role. And Kate stands beside him at every royal engagement, showing the same balance as her husband. When the weather is king, Kate will be as well aware of the monarchy as Will.

Prince Philip did not become king when Queen Elizabeth acceded to the throne

With regard to royal titles, things can quickly get complicated. Everyone knows that Queen Elizabeth's husband is Prince Philip, not King Philip. Indeed, when the queen is a woman, her husband does not take a new title when she ascends the throne. As a result, when Elizabeth became queen, Philip remained a prince and did not receive any new titles at the coronation ceremony of his wife.

Kate Middleton to become "queen consort" when Will is crowned

Although Philip may not have become king, it does not work the same way for Kate. The wives of kings may become queens, but husbands of queens can not become kings. So, when Will takes the throne, Kate will become what is called the Queen Consort. She will essentially embody all that comes with being queen, but she is not the official sovereign ruler; the word "husband" is used next to his title. However, she will be known to the public as Queen Catherine, while Will will reign. She will be anointed with him at his coronation ceremony.

By contrast, Camilla will probably not become queen when Prince Charles takes the throne

Most of the wives of kings become queens, but this is not mandatory. The royal family may decide otherwise and ask the king's wife to retain her current title after the coronation ceremony. In the case of Camilla Parker Bowles, the royal family will probably not make her queen Camilla. Since Camilla has never had a good reputation with the public or the royal family (although she seems to have grown up a little later), she will probably remain Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall after Charles became king. But this decision will only be made when Queen Elizabeth withdraws.
