As if it were not delicate enough to satisfactorily address the first phase of the emerging universe of Marvel Cinematic, The Avengers (AKA Avengers Assemble to the Kingdom United) had to fight another battle off the screen.
Since Joss Whedon was announced as the screenwriter and director of the MCU's first team film, fans joked that one of the team members would die – and that it would be so.
The crucial moment of the Avengers sees agent Phil Coulson being killed by Loki during his escape from Helicarrier. But even when you watch the video, there seems to be something in in this scene.
Coulson is stabbed in the back with the scepter of Loki, but we do not see the sharp end, despite the fact that he is almost definitely past.
Some Marvel fans certainly saw it as though there was a version of the film, mostly in Europe, where the scepter had pbaded through Coulson's body.
However, in the UK, the film was released on DVD and Blu-ray, with the censored version being used in the United States.
But why did Marvel have to change such a scene? Everything was there to prevent the Avengers from obtaining an R rating – and it took a while to get the preferred rating for the PG-13 families.
