As you read this, Avengers: Endgame is about to break records at the box office. Regarded as the "epic conclusion" of the 22-film Infinity saga, Marvel's film universe will now open to new characters that will advance the franchise.
At the present time, the only film on Marvel's slate is Spider-Man: Far From Home of July, a direct follow-up to Spider-Man: Homecoming of 2017, though it is not clear if the film will run after the events of Endgame. Marvel Studios' president, Kevin Feige, said that he "would not announce anything after Avengers: Endgame or Spider-Man: Away from home before Post Endgame and Spider-Man".
Feige said at a recent Marvel event, "We will not talk specifically about the history of any of these films, the plot of the One of those films, of what happens to one of the characters in any of these movies. In fact, even talk about any of these characters – who will be involved in these films – will be a little disturbing as to what may or may not happen to them in previous films. "
But Marvel has three mysteries. films whose release is scheduled for 2020, 2021 and 2022, each. It is possible that the studio will simply announce the titles of these films once the Endgame case is over, as they must all be in different stages of development. In fact, we can safely predict many of these films, based on previous reports.
Spoilers for Avengers: The end of the game follows.
Spider-Man: Away From Home
Director Jon Watts takes over the direction of this Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel, in which Tom Holland plays Peter Parker, and presents a casting that includes newcomer Jake Gyllenhaal, who plays the "villain", Mysterio. A trailer has already been published, although it is not clear whether the story is set in a post-Endgame world. The movie has made things a little trickier for Marvel, considering the "dead" Spider-Man at the end of Infinity War. Contrary to popular belief, Far From Home is the last chapter of Phase III of the MCU, not the final phase. That's what Feige has confirmed.
Black Widow
Black Widow, the long awaited solo film by Marvel at the dawn of her production, is long overdue and stars Florence Pugh in a supporting role. Marvel and Johansson chose the director to choose Cate Shortland, and the filming should begin in June and end in September. Jac Schaeffer, Nicole Perlman and Ned Benson worked on the screenplay. SPOILER ALERT: Since Black Widow died in Endgame, the movie will probably be an epic movie.
The Eternals
Independent filmmaker Chloe Zhao was hired to direct and the latest reports suggest that Angelina Jolie might be in discussion to play the role of Sersi. This would make The Eternals the third female-led MCU film featuring a female character. Feige wants the characters to run their own franchise within the MCU, just like the Guardians of the Galaxy.
Doctor Strange 2
Director Scott Derrickson will return directing the sequel to his property received Dr. Strange, with Benedict Cumberbatch and Benoît Wong taking over their roles as Stephen Strange and Wong, respectively. The transactions were blocked "discreetly" so as not to draw attention to the fate of the characters in the MCU. Derrickson said that he would like to take a darker approach on the part of Dark Knight and that he "introduce a villain where one really has to go further [and have] a more visceral experience."
Black Panther 2 [19659023]
Similar to the way Dr. Strange 2's news was largely concealed, Ryan Coogler was convinced to return to writing and directing Black Panther 2. Marvel has not made any official announcement, but the Hollywood Reporter says Coogler should write the film in the coming months, with a tentative start date set towards the end of 2019 or the beginning of 2020.
[19659022] Shang-Chi
True to Feige's badertion that the future of UCM Destin, Daniel Cretton (who previously worked with Brie Larson), director of Short Term 12, will direct the first MCU movie starring an Asian character. The writer David Callaham of Wonder Woman in 1984 writes the screenplay.
The Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3
After months of coming and going, director James Gunn was rehired to direct the Guardians' third film, based on his script. Gunn was fired after old offensive tweets that resurfaced, which prompted Disney to sever ties with the filmmaker despite apologies. The central cast had sided with Gunn and had invited Disney to reconsider his decision. In the following weeks, it was reported that Guardians 3 had been postponed indefinitely, with the studio looking for a replacement. It has been confirmed, however, that Gunn's original script would still be used. The drama ended just a few weeks ago, when it was narrated – not by Marvel, notice – that Gunn had been brought back. SPOILER ALERT – Endgame implies that Thor will join the Guardians in future adventures.
Other films at various stages of development include a film by Mrs. Marvel (looking for this one to play the lead role in Southeast Asia) and the suites of Ant-Man and Captain Marvel.
In addition to theatrical productions, Marvel recently announced a series of new shows that will debut on Disney's upcoming Disney + streaming service. These include WandaVision a show that will feature Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany in the role of Wanda Maximoff / Scarlet Witch and Vision, respectively. The show may be a sequel, since Vision dies at the end of Infinity War.
Falcon and the Winter Soldier starring Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan could also unfold before Endgame events, as – ALERT SPOILER – Sam Wilson is promoted to Captain America at the end of the film.
Fan favorite Loki will be brought back from the dead in a separate series starring Tom Hiddleston, who may also have been a precedent since Loki. died in Infinity War. Hawkeye starring Jeremy Renner, will perhaps tell the story of his relationship with Kate Bishops.
