In the summer of 2004, an incredibly strange and disturbing villain entered the scene halfway through the map on SmackDown. Mordecai was a figure with a white cape, carrying with him a courier who designated him as a savior to the mbades. The religious nuances of the character made it all the more intriguing and controversial.

Mordecai then defeated fan favorites Scotty 2 Hotty and bad Holly on 2 successive PPVs. The initial plans for him included a long rivalry that would culminate in a match against The Undertaker at the biggest stage of all, WrestleMania 21.

That did not happen, however, as a responsible for the character of Mordecai. Kevin Fertig got into a fight in a bar. When Vince McMahon heard about it, he was furious to the heart. The push was immediately canceled and Mordecai never appeared on TV. An error on the part of Fertig may have cost him a full career in the Hall of Fame.
