Film Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be released nationwide on May 24, the day after the general election results, the authors of the biopic Vivek Oberoi-starrer announced Friday. It was scheduled to be released on April 11, but a day before, the India Election Commission (ECI) banned its broadcast during the polling period.
The ECI had stated that any film of this type that would serve the purpose of any political entity or person should not be displayed in the electronic media.
Producer Sandip Singh said he hoped the movie would run smoothly in movie theaters.
"As a responsible citizen, we respect the law of the land. After much discussion and keeping in mind the curiosity and excitement aroused by the film, we decided to release it immediately after the results of Lok Sabha's election, "he said. he said in a statement.
"We are now publishing our film on April 24th. May 2019. It's the first time that a film has been promoted for just four days. I hope now that no one has any problem with the film and that we hope for a smooth exit this time, "the statement said.
Directed by Omung Kumar, the film also features Boman Irani , Manoj Joshi, Prashant Narayanan, Zarina Wahab, Barkha Sengupta and Darshan Kumaar, among others,
Suresh Oberoi and Anand Pandit are the co-producers.
