Thrones Rhaegal Game in Episode 3: Here's What Happened to Jon's Dragon (Season 8)

Episode 3 of the last season of Game of Thrones is over and the same goes for a whole group of characters who faced the king of the night during the Battle of Winterfell. Season 8 is halfway with Sunday's episode 3, "The Long Night", whose 82 minutes are composed almost exclusively of the biggest battle scene in the series. The army of the dead finally arrived to attack the living in Winterfell (as part of Jon's dubious battle plan), and as expected, many people were unable to get out of it. . Spoilers for episode 3.

A key element of this major fight is the main benefit of the living: the two Daenerys dragons. After a bit of training earlier in the season, we saw Jon ride Rhaegal in a battle against the White Walkers and their undead soldiers, while Daenerys was riding Drogon. At one point, they clashed with the king of the night and his undead dragon, Viserion. Jon and the king of the night muddle through the air, Viserion and Rhaegal attacking each other. The two dragons were wounded in action: Zombie Viserion lost half of his face and Rhaegal received a huge cut in his chest. The injury landed Jon and his dragon, where Jon was thrown from Rhaegal's back. After that, Rhaegal was no longer seen again.

Whether intentional or not, the long duration of the episode was not used to clarify the fate of Rhaegal, just as with Ghost, who was seen early and then disappeared from the fight, to never be spotted again. This left us wondering about the fate of Jon's dragon mate after the fighting ended. So what happened to Rhaegal? Is he as dead as Viserion?

Although Rhaegal seems to be very trying in the middle of the battle, we know for sure that he survived the Battle of Winterfell. That's because it appears, albeit very briefly, in the HBO teaser for episode 4. You can view the picture below, where he and Drogon can be seen flying around the world. above the sky of Winterfell, while Sansa looks from the castle. (We also have other pictures from episode 4 if you would like to see some of the other characters that will be shown there.) Do not expect shocking revelations.

<p dir= Viserion and Rhaegal literally crashed into the blizzard, the cursed dragon trying to cook Rhaegal's rider while they mutilated themselves. The Night King took the opportunity to try to attack Rhaegal and put him to the ground for good, just as he did with Viserion during the episode of season 7 Beyond the Wall. But Rhaegal finally won the fight, tearing a piece of Viserion's face, and the night king and the evil dragon both fell to the Earth. But Rhaegal's injuries were rather serious and he also fell to the ground – he crashed, throwing Jon off his back, and that's the last time we saw the dragon.

The question that remains now is: what condition? Rhaegal will be ahead. Like other Daenerys forces, Rhaegal was beaten during the battle with the king of the night, Viserion making a huge cut in his chest. It also looks like he has tears in his eyes in the teaser (although it's hard to tell the dragons at any distance). It is highly likely that it will not come back 100% for some time, which could call into question its role in the battle for the Iron Throne at King's Landing (where we hope to get Cleganebowl) .

Daenerys had already lost much of her military power, which drove her to defeat Cersei Lannister, and dragons have always been her best badet. We saw it do a lot with one dragon, but a weakened Rhaegal (and maybe Drogon) will certainly be a setback.
