"The Long Night", the highly anticipated episode of "Game of Thrones", where the living and the dead meet An epic and desperate battle has not been fully embraced by fans of the series. Many complained of the (literal) darkness of the episode, while others were disappointed by the apparent disappearance of the former ruthless of the series.
But your Original Content podcast hosts (joined this week by our original co-host, Darrell Etherington) were rather pleased with this episode, as revealed by a rather large discussion.
Yes, darkness was a problem, but the team of designers used this darkness to produce a strangely beautiful effect. On the right screen, everything in the episode was a grandiose and terrifying sight. And although we had bickered with some narration choices, we also shouted surprise at the end of the episode.
The other big question is what the death of the king of the night means for the last three episodes of the series. Time will tell, but we hope for the moment to return to the initial focus on political stratagems and moral compromise.
