Just three months before the start of the main shootings, director Punit Malhotra braked Student of the Year 2 . He had Tiger Shroff and he had a story, he had the encouragement of producer Karan Johar, but the instinct of Malhotra was that the scenario had to be reworked.
The six years separating his second film from Gori Tere Pyaar Mein in 2013 and the pbading of witnesses from the sequel to Student of the Year (2012) have gave Malhotra a lot of trouble to pause to think and reevaluate, and he knew that he needed to do things right. It was only when the scenario was where he wanted it that Malhotra came together with Shroff and the newcomers Tara Sutaria and Ananya Panday to make Second Year Student .
The window decoration remains frothy and candy-colored with an emphasis on the style, but Malhotra hopes that once the public will have removed the designer's envelope, the High school musical drama will have substance. Extracts from an interview.
Describe the experience of making your third movie, the second of this franchise?
When we pulled the plug just three months before turning, we did it because we thought it was not the case. good movie. We went back to the drawing board to rewrite. We wanted to not only do justice to Tiger, but also to the franchise. We wanted to make an entertaining and non-preaching movie.
During the break between my films, I had clarifications on many things and, of course, the insecurity badociated with the need to do it correctly was one of the reasons. It was hard to make that decision after working on the scenario for a year, but I think it was the smartest decision.

And now, a few days before the release of the film, how are you feeling?
I am very excited. We have worked very hard on this one and I want it to succeed. One has the impression that Student is fun, but I think it makes a lot more sense. Ste Therese is a bubble gum and cotton candy, but the other side, which comes from Pishorilal Chamandas College, is the real movie. When you see the film in its entirety, there is much more than you would expect. The message is universal: follow your dreams and do what it takes to achieve them.
Many filmmakers have successes and failures, so why the fate of 'Gori Tere Pyaar Mein & # 39; Did he affect you so much?
Maybe that was because it was my second film, but we did not expect it to happen that way. It was discouraging to see that no one took it. We were not prepared for that. I was very depressed and I was not ready to go back to work for a while.
The rebadessment was accompanied by the sorrow that followed. When you reach the bottom, the only way to go is to go up. You have to go through the rhythms of the trip and that's what I did. Karan then proposed Student of the Year .
On the one hand, you have Tiger Shroff, a star with his action and dance talents, and on the other hand, you have two novices. How was it working with the cool Ananya and Tara?
I knew I had a job to do. We lived the rhythm of grooming – dance, diction and costume tests. I moloudoddle them on the set. We went to see Mussoorie 10 days before filming to acclimate them to a set – to teach them to cope with lights, etc. The most important thing was that we were friends and there was no hierarchy.
Was it easy to connect with the millennial generation?
It was very delicate. I really had to work on it and spend time with the younger ones. I spent time with Ananya to put myself in the head, to understand how she talks, what she likes and what she does not like. It helped me change body language and reactions.
I had a big problem with the costumes and the clothes until Manish [Malhotra] sent me pictures of how young people dress today. hui. It was then that I realized that I am an older generation and that I had to adapt.

Tiger Shroff and Aditya Seal seem a little old to be in these educational institutions.
The girls are the first years, but the boys are closer to graduation and they are athletes, which means that they are larger.
This answer suggests that you were ready to answer this question.
The student of the year is the kind of film that people like to criticize, so we had to cover our basics. It's true that when you start writing a movie about high school, it can become very frivolous, but it must be fun. People say that none of these students ever seem to study, but we are not promoting one type of education. We promote the sport, in this case, kabaddi, and the competition we organize is outside the clbadroom.
That said, if a third film were to take place, I hope we can change the perceptions – maybe even put it in a new school.
