The Story

WWE commentator Corey Graves recently appeared on the podcast " Chasing Glory "by Lilian Garcia and addressed various topics.

Graves talked about when Triple H informed him that his career in the ring was over, adding that he had almost burst into tears upon hearing the news.

In case you do not know that …

Corey Graves signed a development contract with WWE in 2011 and then wrestled in the Florida Championship Wrestling, then in NXT. In 2014, Graves played in a team match of 6 men, teaming with The Ascension to face the trio of Sami Zayn and The Usos.

After the match, he suffered a concussion that put him out of action for months. He returned to the square circle in December, but shocked NXT fans by announcing that his career in the ring was over.

Graves however was not let go and he started a new stint for NXT as a commentator. Since then, Graves has become a pillar of the WWE and calls the action on both brands.

At the heart of the problem

While discussing with Garcia, Graves spoke about the moment he was told by WWE's Triple H, that his wrestling career was about to end.

He remembered he was at WWE Performance. The doctors had told him that they were still waiting for some results of badysis and that no one was giving him a direct answer.

Graves went then to talk to Triple H, who was training. He asked him if he had any news for him regarding his recovery, to which Triple H responded stating that he was expecting the worst.

Graves added that Triple H did not want to lie to him and that he respected him for that, but the revelation shocked him and he had the impression of bursting into tears at any moment .

I sort of caught him off guard, so he did not have a sweet way to tell me, he was just like: "Yeah, I'd wait for the worst." I could not breathe. I felt that I was going to burst into tears. I did not want to cry in front of anyone, so I headed straight into the gym until the locker room. William Regal was there. He was standing there and I went in and broke down. I told him, and all he's done, is to hug me. He was there for me and advised me as best he could.

What's next?

Fortunately, Graves 'exceptional talent for conversation has helped him land a commentary position at WWE and hopes that he will pursue a long and fulfilling career behind the advertisers' office.
