A lawsuit filed by filmmaker Charlie Kessler allegedly claimed that he had presented a project at the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival in front of the Duffers Brothers, who then stole his idea from the series.
In a statement released to The Hollywood Reporter, Kessler told the Duffers "independently created the show".
"After hearing the testimony of the legal expert's testimony that I engaged this week, it's now obvious to me that, whatever I've been able to believe in the past My work had nothing to do with the creation of Stranger Things, and documents from 2010 and 2013 prove that the Duffers created their show independently, so I withdrew my request and I did not will make more comment on this, "said Kessler.

In the lawsuit, Kessler had alleged that he had presented a project at the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival in front of the Duffers, who then stole his idea of shooting in a small town where there is a secret government project investigating the paranormal.
Netflix issued a statement after the abandonment of the lawsuit and said the company was satisfied with the decision.
"We are happy to be able to put this unfounded lawsuit behind us, as we have always said, Stranger Things is an original and revolutionary creation of the Duffer Brothers."
