You never have a friend like Robin Williams. It's just a hard truth. But if anyone is potentially able to step into these shoes (or some Genie's garment) for the live remake of Aladdin it's Will Smith. At the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Monday, Smith featured an excerpt from his rap version of "Friend Like Me" with the help of Questlove and the Roots.
As Smith told Fallon, he was originally reluctant to badume the role that Williams had immortalized in the animated Disney clbadic.
"Damn," Smith said in his initial response: "It's like … Robin Williams crushed that role. When you look at things like that, you try to find what you would do differently. What would you add to that? "
For Smith, one thing he can add to this new version is a bit of a hip-hop. So, he added the drum beat of Honeydrippers clbadic "Impeach the President" for his rap version of "Friend Like Me". And, at least, the first bars he's called for Fallon are really great.
According to Smith'a's interview, Aladdin suggests that it will be the most spectacular remake ever made to date. While the original images showed that Smith was a somewhat terrifying blue genius, new images suggest that the form will not last long, until it takes on a more human form. As for this rap? There is significant vibration in Fresh Prince, so expect a totally unconditional interpretation of Will Smith.
After the relative failure of Dumbo Disney needed a major victory with his Aladdin or Remake of the Lion King . Aladdin was released on May 24, while Lion Kin was released a little later in August. Aladdin seems to have reached that sweet point of nostalgia, thoughtful updates and, of course, a solid remix-rap of a clbadic. Let's move on for three weeks and release this genius.
