Karan Oberoi asks for a bond, submits texts as proof of consent

Mumbai: The actor Karan Oberoi, who was remanded on Thursday for rape charges filed against him by an astrologer, asked to be released on bail on Friday. In his plea, he described the FIR against him as "false", a "harbading" action, and described his relationship with his 34-year-old accuser as "consensual".

"The bail application will be heard next week in the trial court," said Oberoi's attorney, Dinesh Tiwari. "The proof that the complaint against my client is false is demonstrated by the messages exchanged between the parties."

He states in the pleadings that on Thursday, after being "informed of the falsity of the allegations", the magistrate refused to continue his custody and placed him in custody.

One of the allegations made against Oberoi is that he would have expressed the intention of forming a serious and engaged relationship with the astrologer. The actor denies this in his bail plea.
