We dig into the biggest issues of the WTF!
By Terri Schwartz
Many coming spoilers for the detective Pokemon Pikachu! To learn more about the movie, do not miss the IGN criticism on detective Pikachu!
Detective Pokemon Pikachu presented an end that certainly deserves an additional explanation, with many key issues outstanding, including the devil. to be a sequel to Detective Pikachu?
With this in mind, we have broken down the most important moments of the late Detective Pikachu and explained what they meant, why they were important and what you needed to know about Tim, Harry, Mewtwo and well sure, detective Pikachu.
The True Identity of Detective Pikachu
The most telling revelation in the end is that it was not actually "Pikachu" inside Detective Pikachu throughout the movie. Instead, when the improved Greninja attacked Harry Goodman's car and left him badly injured, Mewtwo used his power to harbor the human soul inside Pokemon to save Harry … meaning that "Inspector Pikachu" was actually Tim's father. (19659009). ] There are many unanswered questions regarding this ability of Mewtwo – it can do what now ?! – but we'll get there in a minute. What we do know is that Pikachu gave Mewtwo his consent to save the life of his detective partner and agreed to house Harry to protect him. At the end of the film, Mewtwo is able to separate Harry from Pikachu again and we both see them with Tim at the end of the film as a family reunited safely.
Harry Goodman Actor Revealed
The final scene of the film reveals a somewhat surprising twist: Harry Goodman is portrayed by Ryan Reynolds. All of this makes sense when you take into account the above explanation of how Harry really was the ridiculous behind Inspector Pikachu, but this begs the question: why did Tim not- Did he not recognize his father's voice?
The movie does not offer any simple answers here, but there are some explanations that we can think of. The first option is that it's been so long since Tim and his former father did not talk that he simply did not recognize Ryan Reynolds' style of his father in this strange and exacerbated circumstance.
The other possible explanation is back to Pokemon Detective Pikachu's description explaining how Pokemon and humans connect: the emotion. If we consider the conversations of Tim and Inspector Pikachu as more telepathic / emotional communication compared to a direct audible discussion, then it makes more sense that Tim did not "hear" Pikachu of the same way that the public did it.
Mewtwo's Powers
Detective Pikachu presents Mewtwo's ability to integrate the soul of humans into Pokemon, but how does it work? This concept has actually been introduced into the game of Detective Pikachu – so, yes, it means that it is an official canon directly from The Pokemon Company that Mewtwo has the ability to play with which body houses what soul.
Howard Clifford's diabolical plan is to use the Use of R gas to put human souls into the bodies of Pokemon so that humans can have the same abilities as the creatures they live with. It's never clear what happens to the soul of the Pokémon when the human joins him in the same body, but it seems his soul becomes the alpha and the Pokémon stays in the same body, but in beta . (Moreover, what happens to the human body when souls become confused and why does it disappear? We'll never know it!)
Fortunately, Mewtwo has the ability to reset everything, including the Harry's separation. and Pikachu from each other – so we do not really have to think about the horrible repercussions of this power.
What happens to a sequel?
Now that the souls of Pikachu and Harry Goodman are separated, there is no more "detective Pikachu" as we know it. The charm of Tim and Pikachu's team was to see a Pokémon and a human actually communicating with each other to solve mysteries, and unless a strange incident does not happen. Forcing Harry to return to Pikachu's body, this ending does not create an easy follow-up concept. ] Nevertheless, it seems likely that Warner Bros will want to replicate the magic of Ryan Reynolds expressing a cuddly and caffeine-addicted yellow mice in the future, especially if the Pokemon Pikachu detective is a hit. At the end of the video game Detective Pikachu, the mystery of what happened to Harry Goodman is never revealed to Tim. Thus, while the video game will have no problem to mount a sequel, the movie version will have to take decisive steps to get there. Perhaps the sequel will see our heroes faced with a new mystery in which Harry must merge again with Pikachu in order to interrogate, interrogate and otherwise communicate with Pokemon to solve the case.
Instead of a sequel. Next, what seems much more likely is that we will have a derivative live-action Pokémon film also taking place in the world of (or around) Ryme City. Joshua Yehl, from IGN, spoke with Legendary Entertainment producer Ali Mendes about Detective Pikachu, who teased this legendary Warner Bros. A rich universe. There are so many ways to go. We try to do the first film well, and once we've done that, we'll see where we're going from there, but absolutely. Mendes added, "Even the Pokémon themselves, there are eight hundred of them, we are going to have a lot of them in [Pokemon Detective Pikachu] but we want to play with them all at some point."
Or, Hey, maybe we could just follow the adventures of Lucy and Psyduck in the next round. "Pokemon Ace Reporter Psyduck," Someone?
