The film revolves around a couple based in the United States, Siddharth Chaturvedi (Shiney Ahuja) and Avni (Vidya Balan), who are on holiday in India. Newlyweds are welcome; but when Siddharth insists on remaining in his ancestral mansion, he is upset by it, especially his uncle Badrinarayan Chaturvedi (Manoj Joshi), who openly expresses his disapproval. Despite the warnings about the haunted mansion, he moves there. Soon, strange things begin to happen and he is forced to call his friend psychiatrist Aditya (Akshay) for help.
