On Tuesday, Vivek Oberoi apologized for sharing a meme on
personal life of actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and deleted the controversial text
tweet after being severely criticized
social media.
Oberoi, who would have dated the former Miss World at the beginning of
2000s, released Monday a message on Twitter with three panels, one featuring it,
another with Salman Khan and a third with Aishwarya's husband, Abhishek, and
Aaradhya girl.
The same, a take of the election of 2019 Lok Sabha, the results
which will be declared Thursday, was called "crbad" and
"Disgusting".
"Sometimes what seems to be funny and harmless to
first look at one, may not be to others. I have spent the last 10 years
empower more than 2,000 disadvantaged girls. I can not even think of being
disrespectful to a woman, "he tweeted.
" Even if a woman is offended by my response to the meme,
he calls for corrective measures. Apologies .. Tweet deleted, added the actor.
Monday night, in response to the controversy, Oberoi said
reporters that he had shared the same because he found it funny and didn`t
understand "why people place a lot of importance on this subject".
"Someone sent me a creative message where I was getting
fun of. I just wrote "Ha ha" and enjoyed the other person. When someone
make fun of you, you should laugh and not take it so seriously.
"I even wrote that there was nothing political
about that. It's life and such things happen in life as you are with someone
and then you move forward in life, "he said.
Social media quickly blows up the actor, who is currently
promotion of his next film "PM Narendra Modi", during his
