James Dator, a SBNation writer, shared a story on Twitter that will melt the hearts of Keanu Reeves fans around the world. In 2001, when the actor was working on the Matrix series in Sydney, he went to the theater to see Johnny Depp's film, "From Hell". Dator, 16, was working at the theater.
He recalls his star experience: "… Suddenly, this guy arrives in jeans, a leather jacket and a riding helmet. A complete donkey, strange equestrian helmet. It takes me a good 30 seconds to ignore the helmet and realize that it's Keanu Reeves. Dator immediately decided that he needed to get the star's autograph. He says, "I do what every sensible man of 16 does and tells him that I would like to give him my employee discount. That means he has to sign my paper and I have his autograph. The actor, however, seemed confused, saying he was not working there. One can only imagine how much Dator would have been sorry for not having received the autograph. But the story did not stop there.
"Two minutes later, there is a knock on the door behind me that leads to the box office," Dator said. "I guess it's my manager. It's Keanu. "I realized you probably wanted my autograph," he says. "So I signed that." He hands me a receipt for the concession he signed on the back. He casually casts an ice cream cone into the garbage bin and sees his film. "
Dator later realized that the Matrix actor had actually" bought an ice cream cone that he did not want, just to get some paper scribbled his autograph for a 16-year-old silly. It's an incredibly thoughtful gesture from Reeves who praised his fans.
