The veteran actor Sylvester Stallone says he's never wanted his favorite characters of the fans, Rocky and Rambo, to be political.
Stallone, 72, will always be badociated with the characters he has interpreted in the two film franchises that emerged in the '70s and' 80s.
He embodies the role of boxer Rocky Balboa in eight films, two of which derived from Creed, while describing John Rambo's action star in four films. A fifth Rambo movie is expected to come out this year.
Stallone presents the first film titled, Rambo V: Last Blood, during the ongoing extravaganza film.
At a press conference, the veteran actor discussed the politics of the two characters, according to The Guardian.
"I never took it personally, people say that Rocky was really right. Rocky is a simple man who grew up in this kind of mentality. That's how it was at the time. Everyone was super patriotic growing up. And that's exactly what it is, said Stallone.
"He's not a political animal, so when he wraps the flag around him, he thinks he's doing a good thing," he added.
Stallone said that Rambo had never been "a way of claiming to be a political statement, but he became one, he took a life" But, oh my God, once President Reagan said: "I saw Rambo and he is Republican," he recalls and placed his hand on his head as the crowd cheered him.
Rambo V: Last Blood, directed by Adrian Grunberg, should come out later this year.
