The modifications that the Duke of Cambridge and the Duke of Susbad would have made to the design of the statue of Princess Diana delay the completion and its display at Kensington Gardens.

Two years ago, the brothers revealed that they ordered the statue of their mother for the public part of their palace at the time, in order to commemorate the twentieth anniversary of her death in Paris in 1997.

A spokesman for Kensington Palace told the Mail on Sunday: "This is not a short-term project, it's a statue that will last forever."

" It is to ensure that this lasting monument is completely. "

The sculptor of the statue, Ian Rank-Broadley, is known for his depiction of the queen, who appeared on all the coins in the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth since 1998. He also designed a gold coin marking the Queen's Diamond Jubilee in 2012.

Princess Diana died at the age of 36 when the car in which she was traveling crashed into a Parisian tunnel on August 31, 1997.

Announcing the project in 2017, William and Harry said: "This has been twenty years after the death of our mother, the time is come to recognize its positive impact in the UK and around the world with a permanent statue. "
