Nothing is comparable to the glamor of Cannes. Once a year, world movie stars descend on the south of France to celebrate their artistic achievements and party until the wee hours of the morning. Even if your film is not in competition for the Palme d'Or, the festival offers countless opportunities to shine, thanks to 11 days of screenings, premieres and photo shoots where fashion occupies a central place. Do not expect floral crowns or hippie outfits, as it's a different festival style: one where the on-screen drama can not be compared to what happens on the red carpet.
While the stars climb the steps of the Palais des Festivals, they do so knowing that the world is watching us and doing everything possible to offer unique moments of style. Bigger is always better at Cannes, and this year has yielded the splendor of couture (the resplendent Elle Fanning juror in Floral Valentino), bespoke cabinets (the endless supply of Tilda Swinton's Haider Ackermann), and a series of dresses – or in the case of Chris Lee, a feathered pantsuit – that one could better qualify as "sartorial".
Discover here the best of the festival's fashion at what's happening.
