The West Indies began their tour in Ireland with an overwhelming 64-point victory against hosts in the opening match at three games of the T20I series Sunday. Skipper Stafanie Taylor led the way with a bat, scoring a record 75 to propel her team. Afy Fletcher replied to 75 against the Irish team.

By opting for the first goal, the West Indies lost vice-captain Hayley Matthews in the fourth period with only six points. While Britney Cooper was calm at one end, Taylor quickly dominated the opener and scored fifty. His 53-ball shot, containing 11 hits and one on top, sided with a respectable 128 before being fired.

After his 47-round partnership with Cooper, Taylor added 75 runs for the third wicket stand with Shemaine Campbelle, but mostly managed to score. After being fired, the Caribbean could only add 11 points to their score to finish with a competitive 139 on the board.

The answer from Ireland was a one-woman show. With the exception of Kim Garth, none of the other batters could double-digit, while skipper Laura Delany would not argue at all. Garth held one end, scoring 46 points on 55 and was the ninth striker sacked. Fletcher chose four lower wickets, including Garth, in his 3.4 points, giving only 14 points.

Short Notes: West Indies 139/4 out of 20 outs (Stafanie Taylor 75, Celeste Raack 1-16) defeated Ireland 75 to 18.4 over (Kim Garth 46; Afy Fletcher 4-14) by 64 tracks.
