What is the story?

WWE superstar AJ Styles was pulled out of tonight's playoff Fatal Four-way for injury and will be replaced by Baron Corbin.

Styles was to face Braun Strowman, Bobby Lashley and The Miz to determine the number one universal championship candidate at the WWE Super ShowDown, but the undisclosed injury means the match will not take place.

In case you do not know

The WWE announced the fatal four-way match a few hours before the start of Raw, when Strowman and Lashley were already booked for a match against WWE. Super ShowDown in Saudi Arabia.

Styles lost his world champion match. pay-per-view against Seth Rollins at Money in the Bank, with no indication of last week that he would play in a rematch.

At the Heart of Matter Action

The WWE announced that Styles had been injured, but did not disclose the severity of his injury nor the length of his period of inactivity.

PWInsider confirmed that Styles was not on Raw tonight and was informed by sources that

Styles was not announced for any upcoming WWE Live event or episode of Raw or SmackDown, aside from Super ShowDown, according to Cage Side Seats a potential sign that he could have asked for a leave.

The WWE claimed that Styles had been injured, but there was no indication that the previous event had been shown or that the former WWE Champion had been injured.

Styles was injured on the hip last month at WrestleMania during his match with Randy Orton, but was back in the A week later, rings the superstar Shakeup.

If Styles is seriously injured, the WWE will eventually reveal the nature of the injury.

Styles has not been hurt often since coming to WWE in 2016 and hopefully nothing will hold him back for too long.
