The actress Carmine Caridi, better known for having interpreted Carmine Rosato in " The Godfather: Part II ", is dead. He was 85 years old.
Caridi died Tuesday after being in the coma of a local hospital, his representatives told variety.com.
"From Broadway to film and television, Carmine spent more than six decades entertaining her audience, and nothing made her happier. His talent, wit, warmth and charm will be missed.
"Carmine died peacefully, surrounded by friends and family members, at Cedars Hospital Sinai, "said the representatives in a statement.
The character of the actor in "The Godfather, Part 2" played a key role in the territorial feud with Frank Pentangeli, performed by Michael V. Gazzo. The veteran actor also appeared in "The Godfather: Part III" as a different character, Albert Volpe, an investor in the casinos of Michael Corleone, killed in an attack in a hotel in Atlantic City.
He has also appeared on television shows including "Phyllis," "Starsky and Hutch", "Taxi", "NYPD Blue" in the role of Inspector Vince Gotelli and "Fame" in the role of Angelo Martelli
In 2004, Caridi became the first person to be excluded from the Academy of the Arts of Cinema and Science. According to variety.com, he was ousted for watching movies seeking to attract the attention of Oscar.
Caridi and Russell Sprague have also been sued by Sony and Time Warner, for charges of copyright infringement.
