Warner Bros. portrays Robert Pattinson in the new Batman of Matt Reeves' next film on one of the world's most iconic cartoon superheroes, reported Variety. Friday night. Pattinson succeeds Ben Affleck, whose individual work in the role was generally well received, but the same could not be said of the films in which he took the cloak.

Pattinson first came to fame as Cedric Diggory. in Harry Potter and The Cup of Fire, then playing the vampire Edward Cullen in the Twilight movie series. Since then, he has shunned traditional cinema and focused on independent films like Good Time, High Life and more recently The Lighthouse with Willem Dafoe.

Dafoe recently approved the role of Pattinson. He said in Variety's The Big Ticket podcast: "He has a strong chin. That's part of it. Can you imagine a person with weak chin playing Batman? I do not think so.

Batman has the distinction of being the most adapted cartoon superhero and has been played by actors such as Michael Keaton, George Clooney and Christian Bale.

Incidentally, Robert Pattinson is part of the cast of Tenet, the upcoming film by Christopher Nolan, the filmmaker credited for buying the super-hero on the big screen after Batman & Robin in 1997.

Matt Reeves also writes the scenario. He will apparently focus on his detective abilities. Titled temporarily The Batman, it will probably have no relationship with Batman Ben Affleck or the badociated film universe called DCEU (DC Extended Universe).
