It's the day before the release of Bharat. The big return of Salman Khan on the big screen. His last outing for Eid was a drag and all hopes are based on Bharat, the movie that will see Salman meet with Katrina Kaif after Tiger Zinda Hai in 2017.
The superstar speaks to IndiaToday on the eve of Bharat. Extracts from the Conversation:
What is "Bharat & # 39; – the idea of Bharat – for you?
Bharat. The Bharat film we produced and of which we are very proud. Bharat is for me the place of my birth, the place of my death. There is no better place than Bharat.
When the Prime Minister swore in, you could not attend because of Veeru Devgan's death. Has it always been your family and friends above all else?
Yes, it has always been that. When you see my whole career, it always concerns my friends and family. For them too, it's the same thing. For people for whom they are not, they are obviously not for the family. So obviously, it has to be reciprocal. And if you also see since the beginning of Maine Pyar Kiya, the love I've received from fans, kids, seniors, almost everyone … it's phenomenal. The trip was really phenomenal. All these 30 years or more that I am in the industry. I think since my birth.
You run the film industry for 30 years …
Not Ruled … I would not say ruled …
I think that's the most part is love in your case …
Yes, it's love
At the Sultan, we saw this belly. In Tubelight, we saw you as a mentally slow person. In Bharat, we are 70 years old. After Bajrangi Bhaijaan, did you make a conscious effort to get out of your comfort zone?
This is actually my comfort zone. When you have a good screenplay and it's demanding in the same kind of genre … it's actually that. What is difficult is to make a bad script work. No matter how good you are, no matter how good you are as an actor … you can never release a bad script.
From Bajrangi Bhaijaan in the recent past, you have chosen scripts that resonate with your audience. 19659004] It was well before Bajrangi Bhaijaan. It was at a time when I became complacent and made films that my friends produced, ki yeh ho jaayega, kar lenge. And then I realized that it was a mediocre job. And that too I did it because there was nothing better that would come in my path. I did my best with these films, or whatever I could put in the skin, with some emotion … and they were also very successful.
Then I tried something different at Tere Naam. Tere Naam … these films were of different kinds; Same genre but emotions, drama, romance, comedy, but the backdrop was different. It's more something, more than one, more love, larger than life, maybe a love for the country, maybe a Tiger, or Radhe for l & rsquo; love, or Bajrangi Bhaijaan for this little girl … I've been lucky that until here I'm I was able to do everything.
As soon as I hear the storyline, the narration of a movie, whether I sleepy or if I feel tired or that I say "theek hai, ek aur baar sunenge", c will never do this movie. I really have to, intensely love the subject in the first narration. I hear the plot first, then if the plot is interesting, I hear all about it, then the suggestions come to us and we work on it.
Sometimes too, improvisation is important, and then the plot is: discussed in the living room or in the hotel room; the entry, the exit, the dialogues, the new things to come. So that too, until now it works. Until here, by the grace of God, everything has been correct. But you never know what kind of movie the audience will shoot.
Nobody wants to make a film on the flop. They all want to make a Mughal-E-Azam. They all want to be better than the last movie, better than the success and appreciation of the latest movie. I always want to make the best movie of all time.
Whenever we promote a movie, everyone is talking about very good things about the movie because it really likes the movie. This is not like the image kar li, aur baare mein jhoot bowl of aake. Aisa nahi hota hai kabhi. They went to the movies and liked it, that's why they came to talk about the movie and are excited about its release.
After the results of Lok Sabha, you tweeted Swachch Bharat, Fit Bharat. Should he also say that your film is a clean film and suitable for the family?
Chill and watch the news

No no … I promote the movie Bharat in any way. The film is shot in Bharat mainly. I am also sure to promote this state wherever I go. As if I were in Madhya Pradesh, I promoted Madhya Pradesh. Earlier I went to Arunachal Pradesh, I went to Kashmir.
Wherever I go, without being the ambbadador of the brand, I will promote this place because our country is really beautiful and tourism should exist in our country.
So we went to Switzerland because Kashmir was a serious problem for me. But then we shot Bajrangi in Kashmir and then two consecutive movies shot there. I love to turn in Kashmir.
You can do a lot of movies, you can shoot them like that. But for a film like Bharat, where there is a historical narrative, do you study these references? Or do you let the director deliver to him?
Yes, I mean, I know mota-mota about the movie. Once the information is given [to me] I check it. Mein yeh hai ki refers to the World Cup, and all this Abu Dhabi kebab and how people got there. And when the merchant marine ka ek daur aaya tha jab sab the merchant marine will join kar rahe thay. Part Jai Jawan Jai Kisan, then Railway mein naukri hai … a lot of these things are there. And then, of course, there is the backdrop, this larger-than-life painting.
The songs in your movies are usually a mixture of Hindi and English, written for you. your character and the story. Do you also participate in the creation of music in your films?
In my own movies, yes, I am a huge part of the music. I take the last call on the music. Yeh gaana achha nahi laga, ye gaana theek hai, change of karo … Ali [Abbas Zafar, the director of Bharat] also has an ear for good music and Vishal-Shekhar are very good musicians. So, five or six songs that we have must all be good.
What time does chala gaya hai ki gaana ko hammer karte karte karte karte woa gaana ek has a grumpy value ke andar chala jaata tha. But now, the gaana is the first thing about any movie. There is a lot of pressure on the musical directors, on the director, to choose the right song.
Hark ka taste alag alag hai. Music hi kuch different chal raha hai. May kuch alag hi karta hoon music. It's going as well. People say that it is Salman Khan, that is why it is good. But that's not what it is. If it sounds good, it feels good, people listen and we think yeh chalega, and zyadatar yeh jo gaane hai, woh jab koi do-teen saal ka bachcha woh gaana gaana shuru karta hai, woh barometer hai ki yeh gaana hit hai. I do not watch the music pundits to give their opinion on the song. For me, the opinion is that of this child.
I do not make films for actors [other] or I do not make films because other directors are impressed or [for] the critics. I make movies so that my fans go to the theater and have a good time. Thoda kuch seekhne ko mila, thoda kare dance, thoda sa roye, thoda thoda her character gave us 10-15 percent ghar pe leke jaaye and usko implement kare.
Your movies are worthy of everyone. They will never have an embarrbading moment in a Salman Khan movie.
I myself am very embarrbaded at these times. One can never ever say, but until now … I have never done it.
Katrina recently stated that she could not be in all of Salman Khan's movies. Are you involved in choosing the actress in your productions?
No … not really. Woh … if the director suggests we get Katrina, then Katrina. For example, I did Dabangg. There was this thought that Dabangg 2 ke andar, we will take the character of Chulbul Pandey and go from the front. But I said it was the trip of the whole family. There is Sona [Sonakshi Sinha] there is Mahesh [Manjrekar] the gang of cops … The bad guys keep changing, but I think we should stick to this: if it's Sona, whenever and wherever There is a Dabangg, we will be there. Now, Kick will come. In Kick, Jackie [Jacqueline Fernandez] will be there. The Tiger series will always have Katrina. It's the sequel to this movie, these characters. We can not continue to change heroines.
We know a lot of good things about you. What is the only thing you think is bad for you?
Many bad things … very bad things. But I can not share them. These bad things that I will take with me to the grave!
