Simon Kinberg, director of X-Men: Dark Phoenix revealed another reason why Hugh Jackman's Wolverine is not included in the film.

Well, according to director Simon Kinberg, apart from Jackman retiring, they decided to bring Wolverine back it was not a good idea because of the age difference between Jackman and Sophie Turner, who plays Jean. Sending to Rolling Stone, the director said:
"If you know the story of Dark Phoenix, you would really like to serve the love story between Logan and Jean. And I think the notion of Hugh Jackman, although it's his age, and Sophie Turner – she displeased me. Or no matter who else! "

Kinberg says that he also does not want to harm the central part of the story: "There is an element in the story of John. And I engaged him so fully that I did not want to run the risk of getting away from John by going to the well of a favorite character of the fans of those movies. I wanted it to be a very different experience to see an X-Men movie. "
There! It would certainly have been strange to see Jackman and Turner play a love story considering their age difference. Who knows, in many years we will see perhaps another adaptation of history in the MCU, featuring Jean and Wolverine.
