The Jnanpith Awardee was a popular name in the circles of film and theater.
He made his debut in a Kannada Samskara film in 1970. He also worked in Hindi films such as Manthan (1976), Pukar (2000), Iqbal (2005), Dor (2006) and Ek Tha Tiger (2012).
Girsh Karnad, famous playwright, had mainly performed in South Indian films in Tamil , telugu and kannada, chose to play negative characters in most of his films and interpreted it with a lot of aplomb.
