"We believe that his outstanding work will continue to inspire future generations," said a statement to NFAI on Tuesday.

"Ondanondu Kaladalli" was screened. It will be followed by "Kanooru Heggadithi" Wednesday, then "Kaadu" Thursday and finally "Umbartha" Saturday.

The multi-talented personality, winner of the Jnanpith Award, multilingual scholar, playwright, screenwriter and actor and director, died Monday at the age of 81.

The veteran artist is survived by his widow Saraswathy Ganapathy, his son Raghu Amay and his daughter Shalmali Radha.

President Ram Nath Kovind, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy, former Prime Minister and Supreme Leader Janata Dal-Secular HD Deve Gowda and Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers DV Sadananda Gowda lamented the disappearance of Karnad and offered his condolences to his family members and loved ones.

During a career spanning six decades, Karnad played in Kannada, Hindi and Marathi films, both in traditional and parallel cinema. He has also appeared in television series, including the famous "Malgudi Days", inspired by the works of the famous Indian writer R.K. Narayan.
