Just days after Rohit Shetty directed Sooryavanshi was postponed to avoid a box-office collision with Salman Khan's Inshallah the following year, Akshay Kumar posted a tweet asking Internet users to stop promoting "negative trends". "For a few days, I have noticed some negative trends observed in people who are dear to me … to you guys.I can see and understand your anxiety, everything I do, it's you ask all, hands joined, not to start / participate in I adopted Sooryavanshi with a very positive vision, continue to do so and publish it in the same way, "tweeted the actor is 51 years old. Akshay Kumar's tweet seems to be a response to Twitter's trends such as "#BoycottSooryavanshi" and "ShameOnRohitShetty", with which the actor and director were controlled since the date change. A section of the Internet had also published several hateful tweets for Salman Khan.

Wednesday, The new release date of Sooryavanshi on March 27 was announced not by director Rohit Shetty or star Akshay Kumar but by Salman Khan himself with a statement saying, "I've always thought of him as my youngest brother and he proves it today … Sooryavanshi released on March 27, 2020." Sooryavanshi marks the first film of Akshay Kumar with Rohit Shetty. This is the fourth installment in the filmmaker's series of crime dramas after the likes of Singhan and of Ajay Devgn and of Singh by Ranveer Singh. Akshay Kumar co-starred with Katrina Kaif in the film while Gulshan Grover plays the antagonist.
