Crystal Dynamics insisted a lot on the cooperation of four players for The Avengers from Marvel to E3 2019 this week, but the studio has since confirmed that the main campaign of the super-title hero was a player only. IGN, who spoke to Crystal Dynamics at a private demonstration in Los Angeles this week. They confirmed that the game would indeed only play solo during the main campaign, although cooperation is obviously a major element of the title outside this mode.
The sequence seen by IGN was the Golden Gate Bridge attack. seen in the trailer, and is described as being scripted as other major action-adventure games, such as Uncharted and Tomb Raider. During the level, you can play as a multiple member of the Avengers in different situations, resulting in a boss fight against Taskmaster.
However, this is the side game where Marvel's Avengers opens the doors of the multiplayer. Here you can choose the character you want to play with, level it and then return to the main campaign when you're ready. If you wish, you can also play solo and offline.
The release of the Marvel Avengers is scheduled for PlayStation 4, PC and Xbox One on May 15, 2020. Crystal Dynamics said the title would not support pay. win loot boxes, but there will be cosmetic microtransactions if that is your cup of tea.
Fortunately, the downloadable content will be free, and PS4 owners will have access to the beta before anyone else. The Marvel Avengers will not be an open world game, but the development team has promised players to travel to many places around the world.
