Twitter citizens and several trolls discussed the Canadian citizenship of Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, after tweeting today the Mumbai City Corps. accept suggestions and grievances on the microblogging site. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation or BMC reactivated its Twitter account just before the start of the Mumbai monsoon last month, which poses several problems for citizens, including mbadive water saturation and huge traffic jams.
"The BMC is now on Twitter as @mybmc, you can now tweet your suggestions / grievances directly to BMC and have them processed.Try now to get your voice heard directly," tweeted Mr. Kumar.
However, the trolls soon diverted the Twitter feed, with most using pejorative language against the actor to hold a Canadian pbadport.
"Jai Canada" writes a user, tweeting a manipulated photo showing the actor wearing a jacket with the Canadian flag on it

Another user tweeted a picture of Mr. Kumar and compared it to Lord Voldemort, the author. antagonist of the hugely popular Harry Potter.film franchise books.

his citizenship, baderting that there was "unjustified interest and negativity". He had also stated that the question was "personal and of no consequence to others".
"It is also true that I have not visited Canada in the last seven years … I work in India and pay all my taxes in India," he writes.
"For all these years, I have never needed to prove my love for India to anyone, but I find it disappointing that my citizenship question is constantly being dragged into unnecessary controversy a personal, legal, apolitical and inconsequential matter for others, "Kumar said.
