Five people were charged in the Palghar district of Maharashtra for kidnapping a newly married woman, holding her captive. Police said on Monday that the police had been raped several times for nearly two weeks

. An accused was pretended to be a cop and ordered the 21-year-old woman to accompany him to the police station where he had claimed that her husband had been arrested.

The woman was first taken to the sticker of an accused in Malad, Mumbai, where she was held captive for eight days. She was then taken to Mira Road where she was locked in a building under construction until 18 February, said a police official.

"She was raped by two of the defendants in both places, three others, including a woman, The woman was released from captivity on February 18," he said.

The woman filed a complaint on February 23 and the five men were charged on Sunday with rape and criminal intimidation under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code. The official said.

He stated that no arrest had been made until now and that another investigation was in progress.
