One of the self-proclaimed prophets of a small apocalyptic cult was sentenced Wednesday at least 15 years old and up to life imprisonment after pleading guilty to a charge of sodomy on a child, a crime in the first degree.

The 6th District Court of Manti also dismissed on Wednesday several other complaints against Samuel Shaffer, 34, including a charge of sodomy and indictment of obstruction of justice, of infantile bigamy and debauchery involving a child.

Coltharp, 34, were arrested in December and charged with kidnapping after the pair, who formed the polygonal cult, apocalyptic Knights of the Crystal Blade, hid the children of Coltharp to his ex-wife. This triggered an amber alert and search that finally led the forces of order in the desert to the west of Cedar City, where Shaffer and the children were found in a makeshift house built from shipping containers.

The two form the group around the fundamentalist Mormon teachings and believe in a prophesied Muslim invasion of the United States and the end of the world. They thought that they received revelations from God and each held the title of prophet at different points, according to the prosecutors. Separately from Wednesday's District Court decision, Shaffer was sentenced to life in the Iron County District Court in late May after pleading guilty to rape and badual abuse.

Coltharp pleaded guilty to an badault charge of sodomy and another head of bigamy child on June 13; his conviction should take place on August 8, according to the judicial roles.
