A wall painting by Banksy, an elusive street artist from the UK, disappears from the Bataclan Theater in Paris

A mural painted by the anonymous British street artist Banksy on a fire door The Bataclan theater in Paris was stolen, media reported.

"It's a deep sadness that moves us today," the theater said in a tweet Saturday.

"The work of Banksy, a symbol of remembrance and belonging to all – inhabitants, Parisians, citizens of the world – has been taken away from us".

CNN shows on the painting a sad figure dressed in a black and white veil, head slightly tilted lowering her eyes, reports CNN.

The mural has an added meaning, being painted at the Bataclan gate, where 90 people were killed in a terrorist attack in November 2015.

The Bataclan mural appeared last June, accompanied by 39; a handful of other works allegedly from the artist that arose in Paris, many of which dealt with the migration crisis in Europe.
