Just when we all thought the rivalry was over, the WWE announced Monday that AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura would go there once more this week. SmackDown Live.

From the point of view of intrigue, the fight came out of nowhere as Styles prepares to face Rusev this Sunday at Extreme Rules and that Nakamura is now firmly implanted in the picture of the American title . That said, we were not complaining of having the chance to see Styles and Nakamura between the strings again.

The history of rivalry is well established: Styles won at WrestleMania (and Nakamura became heel after), There was a double count at Greatest Royal Rumble, the Backlash fight ended without contest, Nakamura was victorious in a SmackDown TV match, and Styles won the Last Man Standing fight at Money In The Bank.

The second televised match of 2018 between the two teams on Tuesday night was featured in the second segment of the show, earlier than planned, with the opening bell just 25 minutes away from the show.

Styles and Nakamura were not alone, though. Rusev and Aiden English entered the arena after the entries to cut a promo on his match with Styles this Sunday. Nakamura used it as an opportunity to attack Styles from behind early, but Styles quickly kicked in to try to establish control sooner.

It was short-lived because Nakamura dodged in and out of the ring before enjoying his opponent. He worked on Styles in the ring with a few kicks and knees during the commercial break. The styles fought with an attack in the corner followed by a suplex snap for a double count. Styles worked on Shinsuke's back with a back breaker and an Irish bad in the corner. He followed with one knee to the face for another count of 2.

Back came Nakamura with a few kicks and knees in the corner, but he went back for a second and went into a shot from lateral foot to the intestine. Styles went for phenomenal forearm but was sent out by his opponent. Outside the ring, Nakamura slammed AJ into the security fence and brought him back into the ring where he used a head shot to kill a little while.

After dropping Styles on the carpet, Nakamura reversed in a roll-up for a count of two. Styles hit a big kick, but went into one in the corner. Nakamura planted it through the upper trunnion and nailed it with a knee lift to the belly. He followed that shortly after with a slam scoop and more kicks as the fight went to a second commercial break.

When the show came back, Styles and Nakamura exchanged hard knocks. Styles then took control with a forearm jumping in the corner and followed with a neck breaker following a Shinsuke provocation to "come over!" AJ went for the Clash Styles but Nakamura turned it into a triangle submission. Styles broke the grip by turning it into an attempt to fall after a few tense moments.

Then Styles begged Nakamura to "come!"

He sent Nakamura to the island. outside and slingshot on the upper rope with a phenomenal forearm in front of the ad position. The Englishman started screaming at him and Styles returned and nailed him with a punch. Styles then turned to a big Shinsuke shot with Rusev screaming "Finish it Shin!" Unfortunately, Nakamura arrived with an attempt from Kinshasa but hit the English instead.

Styles slammed Nakamura into the ring, threw him into the ring, and went to install the Phenonmenal forearm. However, Rusev pulled him out of the ring for a QD at 15 minutes. Rusev then brought AJ into the ring and held him back for Shinsuke to hit Kinshasa, but Jeff Hardy's theme came and he ran to the ring. After a third commercial break since the original match began, a worn out Styles was defeated by Rusev. Styles attempted to fight a bearhug for a hot tag, without success, as Rusev continued to dominate. In one way or another, Styles has finally turned the movement into a sleep catch before being driven into the trunnion. After Rusev missed a big shoulder blocking attempt, Styles made hot mark to Hardy.

Hardy worked Rusev with kicks and dropkicks. He looked at his opponent of the Extreme Rules, Nakamura, as he did. He hit the Whisper in the wind but Nakamura broke the fall attempt. At that time, the match broke down, with Styles taking Nakamura on the apron of the ring. The styles turned into Rusev's Machka Kick. Hardy then took out Rusev with a Twist of Fate and climbed up for the Swanton but Nakamura clanged it. Rusev then hit Machka Kick for the fallen.
