Ajay Devgn, recently seen in the hit Total Dhamaal, is ready to play the role of the Indian Air Force wing commander, Vijay Karnik, in an upcoming film entitled Bhuj The Pride of India. Directed and written by Abhishek Dudhaiya, the film is based on actual events of the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971.

Karnik was in charge of Bhuj Air Base during the war, which remained operational despite heavy bombardment of Pakistan . He was accompanied by 50 members of the air force and 60 members of the security corps of the air base.

Karnik and his team rebuilt the destroyed airstrip at the Indian Air Force in Bhuj, Gujarat, with the help of local women. He convinced 300 women from a nearby village to rebuild the runway so that a plane carrying Indian Army officers could land safely.

Speaking of the film, Bhushan Kumar told The Bombay Times: "This brave story must be told, because we want the present and future generation to know the existence of this brave soldier, the squadron leader.
