Today is the 70th anniversary of the Republic. After a long struggle and councils under the Mahatma Gandhi, India managed to break free from the British Raj in 1947. Independence came to fruition by the 1947 Indian Independence Act under the United Kingdom's Parliament. Kingdom which "divided British India into two new independent Commonwealth dominions. Although it was independent, India did not have a permanent constitution.
Under the leadership of Dr. BR Ambedkar, the constitution was adopted on January 26, 1950. Since then, this day has been celebrated with a parade in Rajpath with the President and the Prime Minister present. While everyone is sitting in front of the TV screen to watch the parade, celebrities use their social media handles to wish their fans a happy birthday to the Republic.
