Disney has just started a more detailed look at the upcoming Aladdin live movie. Directed by Guy Ritchie (Sherlock Holmes series), the film adapts the 1992 animated film of the same name. John August co-wrote the script with Ritchie
The clip gives what the fans wanted – the clbadic blue genie, played by Will Smith. But his CGI suggests that there is still work to be done. More on that later.
The trailer opens on a beautiful picture of a moonlit desert, and we see people riding camels crossing it. The orchestral arrangement of clbadical theme music plays in the background. The evil Jafar of Marwen Kenzari (looks not at all mean) appears and almost asks Aladdin to give him the lamp.
Agrabah, the place of history, is a magnificent thing in the teaser. The city looks overcrowded, inhabited – in short, a real city. Some achievements have made the CGI of a city credible in some clichés. Great job, Disney. Naomi Scott's Princess Jasmine appears with her company tiger Rajah behind.
A brief outline shows Aladdin inside the cave. The final scene then shows that he is rubbing the lamp and that the Genie appears as a blue tornado. Smith's character is disappointing. "Do you really know who I am?" He asks Aladdin. "Geniuses, wishes, lamps – none of that sounds good?"
The film is still in post-production, so it is almost certain that this is not the final look, but the animation of the character refers to something outside. the last decade. Let's hope that the theatrical version of the film is better.
Aladdin is released on May 24, 2019.
