Actor Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt's film Gully Boy opened at the box office on Thursday and managed to earn Rs 18.7 crore on Valentine's Day. However, the film became pirated shortly after its release. Gully Boy leaked to the Tamil Rockers hack site on the first day and is available for free download.
According to film trade badyst Taran Adarsh, the film opened at a price of Rs 18.70 Crore. It should show growth during the extended weekend. Directed by Zoya Akhtar, the film revolves around the story of a slum, Murad (Ranveer), who aspires to become a rapper. Alia plays in the film her perverse girlfriend who is a medical student. The film delves into Indian hip-hop culture and inspires the lives of rappers Divine and Naezy.

Alia's previous film, Udta Punjab, also starring Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor and Diljit Dosanjh, also leaked before its release. He earned about 60 crores of rupees at the box office in total.
Just days ago, members of the Indian Film Federation (FFI) urged the government to pay attention to piracy issues that affect the film industry and called for the creation of special tribunals to solve such cases. The Madras High Court has already banned 12,000 websites to stop piracy.
