Alia Bhatt reveals how Zindagi Gulzar Hai of Sanaw Saeed and Fawad Khan played a role in his preparation for Kalank

Alia Bhatt, currently busy promoting her upcoming film Kalank, revealed that she had turned to clbadics such as Umrao Jaan and Mughal-E-Azam, to prepare for her role as Roop in the drama of the preceding period the partition. During an interview, she further revealed that her director, Abhishek Varman, had recommended her to watch Zindagi Gulzar Hai's 1945 Pakistan drama to find inspiration for her appearance and her diction.

"I watched a lot of old movies like Mughal-E-Azam and Umrao Jaan to understand grace and body language. The report mentions that Alia first heard about her producer Karan Johar's film while promoting her first film Student of the Year in 2012.
