Actor Akshay Kumar, attacked on social media after his Canadian pbadport, a few days after his "non-political talk" with Prime Minister Narendra Modi made the headlines, received support from Bollywood colleague Anupam Kher. Referring to Kumar's recent tweets explaining his stance on the controversy, Mr Kher urged the actor to stop explaining his loyalty to the country.

Akshay Kumar, known for his action and comedy films, has produced and performed in numerous films on social themes. When Mumbai voted in the election of Lok Sabha, his wife had come to vote, but he did not come. Asked by the press a few days after the vote, Mr. Kumar responded brilliantly " Chaliye beta (Move on, his)".

M. Kumar, 51, had tweeted a response earlier this week, saying he had not come to Canada for seven years and that he was paying all his taxes in India.

"I do not really understand the interest or negativity inherent in my citizenship, I have never hidden or denied my Canadian pbadport," 51-year-old Mr. Kumar had tweeted.

"For all these years, I have never needed to prove my love for India to anyone, I find it disappointing that my citizenship question is constantly being dragged into a useless controversy, a personal, legal, apolitical issue with no consequences for others, "said Kumar.
