AR Rahman debuts as a writer, producer with film, starring Lisa Ray, Manisha Koirala- Entertainment News, Firstpost

AR Rahman connects to Twitter and announces his next film, 99 Songs, via his official Twitter account. The music maestro described the film, which marks his debut as a producer and screenwriter, as "a pbadionate young story with music in the soul".

According to The Indo-Asian Press Service, the filming of 99 songs was completed in February of this year. It has been funded by Rahman's production banner, YM Movies, Jio Studios and Ideal Entertainment.

In 2017, Rahman revealed that newcomers Ehan Bhat, Edilsy Varghese and Tenzin Dalha would be seen in crucial roles. He also said he made nearly 1,000 auditions to launch the main pair. The actors were then trained at the KM Music Conservatory, a music academy founded by him. They also attended exclusive interpretation workshops.

Lisa Ray, Manisha Koirala, composer-drummer Ranjit Barot and Rahul Ram from the Indian Ocean will play supporting roles. Vishwesh Krishnamoorthy, director of MTV Bring on the Night and The Dewarists, conducted 99 songs .

The film will be released worldwide on June 21 in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

Recently, Rahman teamed up with Marvel India to create a Hindi anthem for the next Avengers: Endgame with the voices of Arjun Chandy, Nakul Abyankar, MC Heam, Suryansh, Hiral Viradia, Lavita Lobo and Deepthi Suresh, among others.
