AR Rahman teenage student wins American reality TV show
Lydian Nadhaswaram, Chennai's teenage pianist wins the American TV movie ]. Son of Tamil music director Varshan Satish, Lydian defeated South Korean Korean Kukkiwon, aka The Flying Taekwondo Masters, to win the coveted title and cash prize of a whopping $ 1 million.
According to a report from India Today, the final is announced. Aged 13, he impressed the judges and the public by playing two medley on the piano. Front-line judges Faith Hill, RuPaul Charles and Drew Barrymore, along with 50 other judges from around the world, made the final decision to declare Lydian the winner of the CBS Talent Contest. James Corden was the host of the series.
At last count, Lydian was far ahead of his nearest competitor. Kukkiwon is 63 years old. Lydian was accompanied by his father musician at the award ceremony. Drew Barrymore, a few other judges and members of the public were in tears when Lydian was proclaimed winner.
Lydian learns music at the legendary music school AR Rahman, KM Music Conservatory in Chennai. To congratulate the little boy, Rahman visited Lydian at home on Thursday with a bouquet of flowers. Both also did a live session on Twitter. In a 10-minute video, Rahman receives a warm welcome from Lydian's family. He also plays a melody for the music maestro on his piano.
