At the end of the Oscar drama, Arunachalam Muruganantham, based in Coimbatore – the man he was based on – enjoyed his morning routine with his extinct television. And when his phone started ringing continuously, he guessed that the documentary had probably won a prize.

"Period. End of Sentence "won the Best Short Documentary Award at the 91st Academy Awards.

Muruganantham stated that the attribution of the documents was a pleasant surprise. He thanked the women members of the prize jury.

Muruganantham told TOI on Monday that he would not let himself be carried away by the rewards and praise. "I did not hang a single price on my walls, including the Padma Shri," he said.

"Films on these topics help to raise awareness among rural women. This is particularly the case in the case of "Padman", which also has a commercial interest, "he said.
