Shah Rukh Khan-Starrer Baazigar was facing many obstacles – from a delay in filming due to community riots, not to compel an actor to play a negative role – but the film's Finished with 25 years, the duo of directors Abbas-Mustan are happy because the film has withstood the test of time.

Released on November 12, 1993, Baazigar introduced Shah Rukh as an "anti-hero." The thriller, one of Kajol's early successes and in particular Shilpa Shetty's first film, has become a blockbuster thanks to its unusual plot.

As the film wraps up 25 years later, Mustan, in an interview with PTI, talks about the obstacles faced by the team, why Salman Khan and Anil Kapoor have refused the role of the filmmaker. anti-hero and shot two different climax scenes for the movie.

"People still love the movie and it's a great compliment for the entire team. It's important the director should be convinced by his own vision, which will reflect in the film. We had a hero who played a negative role.If this led to the successful combination of Shah Rukh and Kajol, it was not a romantic film. But everything worked well, "Mustan said to PTI.

He remembers that the film had received an overwhelming response from around the world and that he had witnessed it during the American and British screenings of the film.

The birth of the film was difficult. The film "mahurat" of the film was made in December 1992 and the shooting was soon to begin, with the aim of finishing it in January-February.

[1945] 19659002] On December 6, the film hits an obstacle after the demolition of Babri Masjid on December 6.

"There was a moment of tension because of the riots, people were scared and did not go out, but Mumbai is a city that bounces like never before.Once everything was settled, the work began as We started filming at the end of March and finished in May-June before deciding to broadcast it on Diwali in June-July, "he said.

Baazigar recounted the story of a young man with a vendetta against a business tycoon.

Mustan, a hardcore fan of Manmohan Desai's film, is inspired by the filmmaker's famous filmmaker's style to form the Baazigar knot as a mother-son story with the backdrop of revenge.

"In his films, the character of mother was of paramount importance, we wanted to include this element in our film, it is to create the emotion for a film. son is explored and properly justified on the screen so a blow to the public is heard. If a son avenges his mother, all his sins are forgiven him.And it worked well with the public, " he declared. Rakhee Gulzar, a veteran actor, was the perfect choice to embody a mother in distress as Shah Rukh. It was Rakhee who asked the directors duo to change the film's climax.

"Rakhee said yes, but wanted the end to be changed because she felt that the public should not be let down Many distributors did not die in the end and instead, the police should come in We had shot at both ends and we felt the end when the police arrive and take SRK will not work because the emotional graph of the character would not be properly transmitted, "Mustan said. When the first copy was released, the distributors and Rakhee finally agreed to join the vision of the duet duo

It is said that the film is a remake of A Kiss Before Dying, but Mustan says that only one scene is inspired by it. 1991 Hollywood Movie

"Our film is completely different from this Hollywood movie. One plane where a man throws a girl off the terrace, we just have this scene where the character Shah Rukh throws Shilpa from the terrace to his death. This film has no trace of mother- It is there in our film, "says Mustan.

Shah Rukh, now considered the king of romance, played the anti Heroes without effort, but it was not the first choice of the film Mustan says the producers had approached Salman, who at that time was shooting Sooraj Barjatya's film and felt that the negative role might not work. to be not for his good boy on an image on the screen.

While Anil Kapoor, according to Mustan, might not be able to … carry the negative role Mustan remembers that Shah Rukh had come meet the producers of the company Venus for the narration of a film that he did not like But a fortuitous meeting with the directors' duo earned him Baazigar.

Describing SRK as a director actor, Mustan states, "He used to shoot a scene from four to five different ways.He has a very wide variety of actor."

Mustan says, "We told him to keep the picture in his pocket, but Shah Rukh thought about tearing it up and putting it in his mouth." He gave the example of a scene in which SRK kills Resham Tipnis. " things that he did spontaneously. "

Mustan says it was SRK who helped them obtain the necessary authorizations to shoot in Delhi, the hometown of the superstar, 53 years old. was shot in Delhi and Mumbai and the title song in Mauritius

The producers had asked the duo of directors to consider projecting big heroines such as Sridevi or Juhi Chawla, but they felt that a new coupling would be appropriate for "We felt that if an artist or actor is bigger than the movie, then it will not work," Mustan adds.

"When we went to Kajol, she was so lively and jovial that we could not understand the scenario and its role. She showed maturity during filming and remained focused. Shilpa also worked very hard, "says Mustan.

There have been rumors about a sequel to Baazigar but Mustan is happy that the film is relevant even today and the second part can only be made 'they discover a beautiful story.
