As White Walkers reach Winterfell, truths emerge for Starks, Targaryens and Lannisters – Entertainment News, Firstpost

Spoilers Ahead.

Oh my God, what an episode!

It's as if the audience of Game of Thrones took to heart Bran's message from Season 8, Episode 1 ("There's no time for everything this The King of the night "is on the move") and jumped to the heart of episode 2.

We are wasting no time as we move directly to a confrontation in the Winterfell Great Hall between newcomer Jaime Lannister and various Starks, Targaryen (s) and allies Daenerys is angry for two reasons: 1. Here stands before her the man who murdered her father, Aerys "the Crazy King" Targaryen. And 2. He did not even bring Lannister's army with him, as Cersei promised – Sansa was also not happy – pointing out that Jaime attacked Ned Stark in the Streets and is beat up against his family (although most of that time was spent as a prisoner of Robb.)

Jaime says that he's here only to keep his promise to fight. for the living. He further told the badembled party that Cersei was brought by Golden Swords by Euron Greyjoy and that it should be more than a match for all who will survive the war on the dead.

Tyrion speaks for his brother, and is silenced by Daenerys, furious at having misjudged Cersei. Things warm up until Brienne intervenes and vouches for Jaime. She tells how he saved her from the rape of Locke and other Bolton men, at the cost of losing his own hand. She told Sansa that it was Jaime who had armed her (Brienne) and had her in charge of putting the Stark girls safe, after swearing in front of Lady Catelyn to do it.

Sansa accepts Brienne's confidence in Jaime and offers her his. Jon also says that they need all the men they can have. Daenerys obeyed their advice – although she later attacked Tyrion for believing that Cersei would be his northern army and threatened to strip him of his Queen's Hand position. Ser Jorah and Varys look with sympathy.

Arya observes Gendry working in the forges. She asks him if he has already made his weapon, but not Gendry. They talk about the fights they've fought and she wants to know what it's like to fight a loser. Gendry tells him that it's "like death". "I know death. He has many faces. I can not wait to see this one, "she says, throwing several spearheads from dragonglbad into a post. Gendry is surprised.

**

Bran sits near the weir tree in the divine wood. Jaime comes to him and asks why Bran did not tell others that it was Jaime who had pushed him out of the tower. He apologizes. Bran tells him that he is not angry and that Jaime would not have been the man that he would have now if he had not pushed Bran. out of the tower – in the same way that Bran would not be the three-eyed crow.

Jaime will meet later. Tyrion and the two discuss Daenerys – and Cersei. Tyrion asks if Cersei was lying about her pregnancy but Jaime answers no. "She always knew how to use the truth to tell her lies," the brothers note, before Jaime wonders how he could have been so blind to who she was. Tyrion corrects it: "You knew exactly what she was. But you loved him anyway.

Jaime sees Brienne away, overseeing the formation of fighters. He approaches her and proposes to serve under his command. She is touched and accepts.

Jorah goes to Daenerys and tells him that she must forgive Tyrion. On his advice, Daenerys also tries to smooth his equation with Sansa. After a somewhat stormy debut, Sansa and Daenerys seem more friendly, and the former finally admits that she is afraid that Jon has been manipulated (by giving up his kingship) because of his love for Daenerys. Dany points out that all her life she only wanted to regain the iron throne. And yet, she is here, fighting a battle on the other side of the world. She wonders who manipulated and admits that she also likes Jon. It's only the second man that Dany believes the word, she says. When Sansa asks who was first, Daenerys responds, "Someone taller." Their tete-a-tete takes a less friendly tone when Sansa asks what will happen to the North when the war against the dead is over and Daenerys gets his iron throne. Sansa wonders why the North should give way when they fought to take back their land. Dany is not happy with this remark, but they are interrupted by the news of an arrival.

This is Theon and some of the Ironborn. He informs Daenerys of the rescue of Yara and his subsequent trip to the Iron Islands, and states that he came to fight for Winterfell. Sansa is defeated and rushes to hug him.

Tormund, Edd and Ser Beric Dondarrion also arrive at about the same time. Jon and Sam are happy to see them and the men tell them what they found at the last hearth and the death of the Little Shadow Lord. Jon realizes that the army of the dead could attack in the space of one night.

All around Winterfell, the preparations for the imminent battle are in full swing. Jon holds a council of war with all the main characters and draws up a plan. "Our enemy does not tire, do not stop, do not feel," he reminds them. Killing the king of the night is their only hope because the death toll would be too overwhelming for the Winterfell party to defend itself.

Bran speaks up and says that the king of the night will pick him up. He says that he will wait for her at Godswood. The others are reluctant to let Bran expose him to danger, but he badures them that this is the only way.

Sam wonders why the king of the night wants Bran and he responds that he wants to kill him, as he has killed many. Three Ravens in front of him.

"He wants to erase this world and I'm his memory," says Bran, to whom Sam replies, "That's what death is, does not it? Forget. "

Theon says that the Iron-Born will keep Bran in the divine wood; It's his way of offering penance for kidnapping Winterfell in Bran. Jon and Daenerys say they'll be nearby, with the dragons – but far enough away so that the king of the night can not feel their presence.

As combat hours get shorter, Tyrion asks Bran about his story (how he became the Three-Eyed Raven). Gray Worm meets Missandei and tells him that they will return to Naath when the Daenerys fighting is over. On the walls of Winterfell, Jon, Sam – and GHOST! – keep watching. They are joined by Edd, who says: "And now begins our watch". The trio remembers their visit to Castle Black and their deceased friends – Pyp and Grenn.

Inside the Great Hall, Tyrion and Jaime sit by the fire. Tyrion explains how their father, Tywin Lannister, would have been displeased to see his two dead sons in order to protect Winterfell. Pod and Brienne join them, as well as Davos and Tormund. As they exchange stories of all the battles they've experienced – all those people who fought against the Starks at one time or another and are now lined up with them – Pod sings a poignant song. And the most poignant of all: Jaime Knights Brienne.

**

Arya sits with the dog and wonders what brought him here, with the brotherhood and fight with Jon on the other side of the wall. Ser Beric sits down with them. She goes to practice shooting at the bow and is found by Gendry, who gives her the weapon that she asked for – a replica of the wooden stick with which she would fight the Waif at Braavos, except for pieces of dragonglbad.

Arya asks Gendry what Melisandre wanted with him and he tells him that the Red Priestess wanted his blood. He explains that he is the bastard of Robert Baratheon. Arya and he lie down and make love.

**

Sam surprises Jorah and his cousin, Lady Lyanna Mormont, arguing over whether or not she should go to the battlefield. Jorah wants her to stay in the crypts but she refuses. While she's going away, Sam presents Jorah with the Tarly family's sword – the Valyrian steel Heartsbane. Jorah is overwhelmed. Sam tells him that it's because the Lord Commander Jeor Mormont has made a man.

**

Daenerys approaches Jon in the crypts of Winterfell. He has been distant all day, but stands near her near the statue of Lyanna. She wonders how her brother Rhaegar – who was generally considered so good – could have raped Lyanna. Jon replies that Rhaegar did not do it: he loved Lyanna and had married her, and they had a son. Lyanna was afraid that Robert Baratheon had murdered her child and, while she was dying on the delivery bed, asked her brother Ned to raise the baby as his bastard. Jon reveals that he is this kid and that he calls Aegon Targaryen.

Daenerys is shocked and wonders how this can be true. When Jon told him it was Bran and Sam who told him, she told him it was very convenient for Jon that his brother and best friend were claiming the "truth" of his identity. Jon tells him that he knows that's the truth.

While Dany notices that this makes him the last Targaryen and heir to the Iron Throne, a horn sounds. The Army of the Dead is at the gates of Winterfell.
